Excursions

Whaingaroa Childcare values the importance of offering diverse experiences that foster learning and growth. We believe in creating opportunities for children to explore both their immediate environment and the wider community. To achieve this, we support a combination of spontaneous and planned excursions beyond the centre, ensuring the safety and well-being of both children and teachers at all times. We regularly visit the library, nearby playgrounds, and local shops.

Bush Park

Bush Park offers children valuable opportunities to deepen their connection with nature and their local community. Through positive learning experiences, children explore native habitats, wildlife, flora, and fauna, fostering a greater understanding of the natural world. At Whaingaroa Childcare, we embrace Bush Park education as a way to nurture dispositional learning, such as curiosity, imagination, and wonder, while promoting health, physical development, and well-being in an outdoor setting. We also honor Tāne Mahuta and Papatūānuku during these experiences, celebrating children’s spiritual connection to the earth.

Bush Park operates during the school term and is offered to our oldest children, aged 3 years and over.
